Sheep Meadow Wooden Automata

Far from the noise and hurried pace of everyday life, there is a quiet meadow where time seems to move a little more slowly.

The trees stand peacefully at the edge of the grass, a small wooden fence marks the boundary of the field, and three sheep wander together beneath the open sky. Nothing is rushed. Every movement follows the calm, natural rhythm of the countryside.

This peaceful scene became the inspiration for Sheep Meadow.

We wanted to capture more than the appearance of a pastoral landscape. We wanted to recreate the feeling it brings—the comfort of open space, the simplicity of life close to nature, and the quiet happiness found in ordinary moments.

The three sheep each have their own posture and personality, yet they remain part of the same small world. As the mechanism begins to move, the once-still meadow gradually comes to life. Their gentle motions create the impression of sheep grazing, wandering, and keeping one another company.

The Quiet Working Beneath the Meadow

Above the base is a peaceful pastoral scene. Beneath it is an entirely different world—one of interconnected mechanical parts working together in careful rhythm.

The visible structure inside the base reveals part of the movement rather than hiding it. Each rotating component transfers motion through the mechanism, allowing the sheep above to move as part of one coordinated composition.

Every connection must be properly aligned and repeatedly adjusted by hand. Even a small deviation can affect the smoothness and balance of the overall movement. What appears gentle and effortless above the meadow is made possible by precision, patience, and careful craftsmanship below it.

This contrast is at the heart of the piece: quiet simplicity on the surface, intricate engineering underneath.

A Warm Light for Quiet Evenings

As daylight fades, the integrated nightlight brings another character to the meadow.

Its warm glow gently illuminates the scene, creating a soft and comforting atmosphere without overpowering the natural beauty of the wood. The moving sheep, miniature landscape, and subtle light come together to transform the piece into a peaceful companion for the evening.

Placed on a bedside table, shelf, desk, or reading corner, Sheep Meadow brings a sense of warmth and calm to the surrounding space.

By day, it is a kinetic wooden sculpture filled with movement and detail. By night, it becomes a small illuminated landscape—a quiet meadow that continues to keep you company.

Crafted from Nature

The rounded sheep, flowing grass, trees, fence, and mechanical base are carefully shaped to create a complete miniature world.

Natural wood gives the scene warmth and individuality. Its grain, tone, and subtle variations become part of the landscape itself, ensuring that every finished piece has its own character.

Each component must be shaped, polished, assembled, aligned, and tested with care. The final work is not created by machinery alone; it depends on the experience and patience of the craftspeople who bring every movement into harmony.
